Can someone please explain why this is happening? A question involving Webroot Spysweeper.?
I am running the latest version of Webroot Spysweeper 5.2 on my eMachines W2828 Desktop and on my Toshiba A55 Satellite laptop computers. Everything runs fine except when I schedule a “Custom Scan” which includes sweeping for rootkits.
Webroot Spysweeper will scan the Registry, Cookies, Memory…etc without a hick-up but when it reaches the Files And Folders section it suddenly locks up right around the 130,000th file mark. This happens on BOTH my PCs. What is going on?
I have tried running the program in “Safe Mode” and the exact same thing happens. I thought running Anti-Spyware programs in “Safe Mode” were supposed to help the software run more efficiently?
Why is Webroot Spysweep, which is suppoesed to be one of the best Anti-Spyware programs, stalling on “Rootkit” scans even in “Safe Mode”.
Any advice and answers would be of much help.

contact webroot spysweeper (I’ve had problems with them too), but they are very helpful if you have a problem and so is emachines (if you have a problem with them)contact them via-email it seems that you get a better response that way, you can also call them if that’s what you prefer.
Do you have a good anti virus like norton? because I have used other anti viruses that did not detect any viruses, my computer was very slow (every part) I was told that norton anti virus was the best so I bought it, ran a scan and it found 5 different viruses that had been messing with my computer! after I ran a scan and quartined the items my computer has ran smootly ever since,either way your bound to figure it out.good luck
