I bought the retail display laptop, is this the reason my laptop is unstable and sluggish?
I bought a ASUS PRO50GSeries laptop from a retail store but because the last one had a deposit paid on it so I missed out. But, I was offered the display model instead, at a discounted price. Who knows how long it has been sitting there, switched on all day long, would this be the reason it is slow and sluggish, it also has bugs and errors, or is this just normal? It was already installed with Vista sp1, it also has the retailers shop name in the user name.
IS there anyway I can clean the laptop to give it a fresh start like a new laptop should be?
most new laptops have an auto factory restore function built in. You should be able to access it by pressing one of the F keys (usually F10 or F11) while the computer is booting up. It should show up at the bottom of the screen as the computer turns on which key to press to access this function. Or by pressing F8 like you would boot into safe mode, and there will be an option on their that says “System Restore” or something to that effect.
If neither of these are available you should have received a set of CDs with the laptop, and one of them is a system restore CD. If you didn’t get these go back to the store and ask for them.
When you do this it will give you the option to set your own name as the primary owner and user account so no more looking at the store name.
