Although in most states it is against the law to not be wearing one but it has been proven many times that seat belts do save lives. Especially making sure younger and smaller weight children are buckled up and using the appropriate seats that they should be. Under a certain age children are not allowed to sit in the front seat and for the youngest and smallest of kids it is usually required they are in some sort of car seat or booster seat until a certain age or until they hit a certain weight.
