Learn how to increase your chances to quit smoking with our quit smoking guide. It is designed to provide you with useful information about smoking nature and some tips that will help beating up the smoking cessation symptoms.

The first stop in our quit smoking guide is the understanding of how smoking addiction works. If you discover the roots of the addiction, it will be easier to eradicate your smoking vice. Your are addicted to smoking because of:

- Addiction to nicotine: Nicotine is a substance found in cigarettes that is highly addictive. Once you have started smoking you have taught your body that it will receive regular doses of nicotine. With time your body starts to require more and more nicotine thus you start to increase the number of cigarettes you smoke per day. Nicotine itself is not that harmful, but the rest of the ingredients found in cigarettes (such as tar) are.

- Mental addiction: Smoking is connected with your life and your habits. In fact there is a large number of cigarettes you have smoked not because you needed more nicotine but because you have used to the ritual. For example it is believed that a cigarette goes well with coffee (although it si a fact that it just kills the coffee taste) so you light up one with yours regardless if you want it or need it. if you manage to make a dissection of your life you will quickly see where cigarette smoke sneaks in it and just shut the doors.

Ok, read this? Good. Now here is the second part of the quit smoking guide. How to cope with the problems mentioned above?

- There are plenty of solutions for your nicotine addiction problem. You can start a nicotine replacement therapy or get a stop smoking injection. The NTR (nicotine replacement therapy) replaces cigarette nicotine with nicotine delivered though other sources such as gums, patches or nasal sprays. The stop smoking injection offers even more radical approach to nicotine addiction the ingredients of the injection simply block the nicotine receptors in your brain it simple cannot recognize the substance and that is why the cravings stop. Remember that in any case you should seek professional advice about the kind of stop smoking therapy you will undergo. Your doctor will be able to prescribe you the best medical treatment in accordance with your health conditions.
- The medical treatment will relieve your withdrawal symptoms and will leave you free air to cope with the rest. A correct behavioral therapy can help you switch your habits and lifestyle in a way to exclude smoking. It is also vital that you get support from your friends and family. Start going to ex-smokers meetings there are many self-support groups that you can attend. These are things you read in any quit smoking guide but they do work so you better try at least one.

Theres no doubt that smoking is bad for your health, but is it reason enough to give up smoking?

The answer, according to a general consensus by health officials everywhere is a resounding yes. Never smoking is one of the best things you can do for yourself, but stopping smoking (even after years of dependency) is next on the list. But how can you quit smoking cigarettes after the years of smoking? And is quitting smoking even worth the effort?

First, you have to understand that the effects of smoking start from the first time you draw in the nicotine. The next important factor is that the damaging effects of cigarette smoking continue the rest of your life. You cant turn back the hands of time so that you never pick up a cigarette, but if you quit now, you can lessen the effects beginning at this moment.

Maybe you think smoking cessation is simply too difficult and that you cant accomplish it on your own. Youre probably right. Most people find the use of quit smoking products or stop smoking programs to be necessary While it is possible to simply quit, theres no doubt that smoking is a strong addiction and theres nothing wrong with seeking some stop smoking help.

Recognizing the damaging effects of smoking is probably one of the most compelling reasons to stop smoking. Some people cite the potentially harmful effects of second-hand smoke on family and friends as the reason to stop smoking. Both of these are certainly good reasons, but it has to be accompanied by a true desire to quit. Otherwise, even the most tried stop smoking aids are unlikely to work.

So how do you find out how to stop smoking? Stop smoking hypnotherapy is option that has worked successfully for many people. As is the case with most programs geared to help to stop smoking, the smoker has to believe both in the need to quit and in the program. Skepticism of the smoker and of family can damage the potential benefits of hypnosis stop smoking programs.

Stop smoking hypnosis works largely on the power of suggestion, but dont expect to walk into the hypnotists office a smoker and walk out never again to desire a cigarette. Quit smoking hypnosis will usually start with an evaluation. That is, the therapist will typically ask questions to evaluate the smoking habit, reasons that it began, and reasons the smoker wants to quit.

If, for example, youre looking for help quitting but have no stop smoking support, itll be much more difficult to leave the cigarettes alone. If youve always smoked with family or friends after dinner, on lunch break or over coffee in the morning, you have to learn that you can be with the group without smoking. This is one of the biggest reasons that quit smoking help in the form of hypnosis works better than some other stop smoking aids the focus on distancing the smoker from the need to smoke.

Beware of any free stop smoking programs, even hypnosis. Theres usually some hidden fees. Those that guarantee results will likely only require that you keep returning for follow-up visits, but will never refund your money.

Finally, keep in mind that there is no magic stop smoking therapy. Even hypnosis doesnt work for everyone, and every stop smoking product out there works in conjunction with your own desire to quit.

This year, when The Pulitzer Prizes were announced, the not entirely delightful news is that no Pulitzer was awarded in drama.

While the decision is unsettling, the prudence of it must be acknowledged, since, affection for the theater and those who make it aside, there was no drama to consider.

Let us have the courage to ask why and, along the way, try our best to understand everybodys culpability or innocence.

If you keep tabs on Broadway, just so youll know if, by some surprising concatenation of events, a drama you might actually be interest.d in seeing comes along, you know that the usual fare this past season was once again a series of enthusiastically promoted trifles.

But the financial realities on Broadway make it exceedingly chancy for producers to put up anything that isnt already proven at the box office and, even more importantly, with the critics, who can even disable a previous box-office success. All very understandable. The producers are not in the business of nourishing unproven works, no matter how worthy they may suspect or be advised they are. Not understandable.

The small and regional theaters are seldom managed by people who have any sense of what mainstream appeal might be or they very likely wouldnt be working in a little or regional theater. Perfectly understandable.

Even if a small or regional theater puts up a work that might attract a wider audience than the reliable coterie whose interests are decidedly offbeat, the likelihood that a well-known critic or even a second-string critic will show up is discouraging. Understandable. During the theater season, little theaters put up shows with withering frequency in New York and all over the country. The critics whose names people might known do not flock to any production that doesnt have some kind of major preproduction cache. Their primary job is to review the little shows in the big venues, not the remotely possible big show in a little venue, and their secondary job, should they occasionally be inspired to assume its obligations, is to cherry pick smaller productions that present some precondition of influential interest. Also understandable.

The current crop of critics, when confronted by a work in any theatrical venue that smacks of being mainstream, are unlikely to find it suits their own offbeat temperaments. Not understandable. It is such temperamental selectivity that prevented, among countless lesser knows, a relatively mainstream playwright like Arthur Miller from getting a rave review during the last two or three decades of his life, and even a popular confectioner like Neil Simon from getting one for many years.

The inescapable fact is, offbeat people usually prefer offbeat works. Very understandable. Were all human.

But what would be really refreshing is for a major critic or two to surface whose tastes would incline them to help nourish intelligent theater that deals with the major text and subtext of contemporary mainstream American life. Once we were fortunate enough to have them, like the legendary Brooks Atkinson and the more recent Walter Kerr, we could be far more hopeful that mainstream works would have a chance of surfacing. After all, critics are the first significant audience for any work, and so they are necessary partners in the attempt to rejuvenate intelligent and widely relevant American theater.

As for the playwrights, we must understand their plight, too. Simply put, comes the hopeful new playwright with a mainstream sensibility, where can he hope to find an outlet? And, if he does, can he hope to have a critic show up, let alone one who is on the same page with his sensibility? Quite a rare and, year after year, an apparently impossible combination.

Even Actors Equity is aligned against the poor talented soul. Should the playwright somehow find a theater that will put us his or her work, he or she will get what is known as a showcase presentation, which provides for four weeks of rehearsal and a four-week run, possibly extended to five weeks. Since the rehearsals must be conducted with actors who have to participate in their spare time, due to the meager honorariums showcase appearances provide, its difficult to get a production that does the work justice. And a four-week run simply is not long enough to build word of mouth.

Between the scarcity of venues that have a predisposition toward a playwright who has a sensibility that might reach mainstream America, the difficulty of getting a production that showcases the work in a way that renders whatever excellence it may hold, the brevity of the run, and the scarcity of critics who might arrive, compounded by the unlikely prospect that any who do might appreciate it, can we blame the playwright who finally decides that hes involved in a hopeless puzzle that, at best, is merely baby sitting him as an intellectual. Is it any wonder that he may sulk between disappointing efforts and finally walk away into a writing career where there is some hope of getting somewhere. Understandable, at least.

So there you have, as best as we can explain it, why no Pulitzer was awarded for drama.

But we could never leave you without whatever hope there might be.

The one factor that hasnt yet entered contemporary theater that has influenced, for better or worse, film and television, is the advent of the self-funded writer-producer. Considering the gauntlet that faces the mainstream playwright without his or her own resources, such a writer-producer, maligned as he may initially be as self-aggrandizing by the theatrical establishment, may be the only hope left.

Meanwhile, we must reluctantly admit, better not to award the Pulitzer at all than to award it to a trifle, masquerading as a piece of consequence. At least, some sort of standard has been indicated.

The Chinese 5 Elements Feng Shui Principle can be applied to predict all 2006 FIFA World Cup Matches. With the Chinese 5 Elements system, you can predict every FIFA World Cup Match with more than 70% accuracy.

To predict, you need to know the Chinese Feng Shui 5 Elements. The Chinese Feng Shui 5 Elements are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water. When these elements interact with each others, they create the constructive and destructive forces. There are only 4 interaction probabilities. Therefore, the methodology is rather easy to master.

1. The Producing Cycle.
(Wood Produces Fire, Fire Produces Earth, Earth Produces Metal, Metal Produces Water and Water Produces Wood)
When Wood produces Fire, what it means is that the Fire element is at an advantages position compared to the Wood element. On the other hand, the Wood element is at a disadvantage position.

2. The Weakening Cycle.
(Fire Weakens Wood, Wood Weakens Water, Water Weakens Metal, Metal Weakens Earth and Earth Weakens Fire)
The Weakening Cycle is the reverse expression of the Producing Cycle. Fire weakens Wood means that Fire consumes Wood as fuel and thus the Fire element is at an advantages position. Since the Wood element is being consumed, therefore, it burns itself out.

3. The Controlling Cycle.
(Wood Controls Earth, Earth Controls Water, Water Control Fire, Fire Controls Metal and Metal Controls Wood)
The Controlling Cycle is also known as Destructive Cycle. Fire controls Metal means that Fire has the power to overcome Metal. What it means here is that when Fire is being applied on Metal, Metal will go deformed and thus can be shaped into any other shapes. In this case, Fire element is at an advantages position and Metal element is at a very bad position.

4. Matching.
(Wood Matches Wood, Fire Matches Fire, Earth Matches Earth, Metal Matches Metal and Water Matches Water)
When Fire Matches Fire, it means Fire brings luck to Fire. In this case, both teams bring luck to each other. Therefore, we must find other comparison methods (Producing Cycle, Weakening Cycle and Controlling Cycle) to draw a better conclusion.

Since every team has got uniform; uniform has got colors. colors have got the elements. Therefore, we are able to predict all the 2006 FIFA World Cup matches using the Interactivity of the Chinese 5 Elements.

But before we start, you have to know the colors and their elements.
Wood element: Green and Chocolate
Fire Element: Orange, Red, Maroon and Red Purple
Earth Element: Yellow and Brownish Tan
Metal Element: White, Silver and Gold
Water Element: Blue, Gray and Black

Since every match has got two sessions, therefore the shirts represent the first half of the match and the pants represent the second half of the match.

For example,

Team A has the following uniform:
Goalkeeper: Blue Shirt (Water Element) / Black Pant (Water Element)
Players: White Shirt (Metal Element) / Red Pant (Fire Element)

Team B has the following uniform:
Goalkeeper: Yellow Shirt (Earth Element) / Green Pant (Wood Element)
Players: Orange Shirt (Fire Element) / Blue Pant (Water)

In the first half of the match, Team A Players’ White Shirt vs Team B Goalkeeper’s Yellow Shirt. It is Team B Earth Produces Team A Metal. Therefore, Team A will very likely to score a goal. Then, we compare Team A Goalkeepers’ Blue Shirt vs Team B Players’ Orange Shirt. This is Team A Water Controlling Team B Fire. As such, Team B Players are not likely to score a goal. As a result, Team A’s luck is stronger than Team B in the first half of the game.

In the second half of the match, Team A Players’ Red Pant vs Team B Goalkeeper’s Green Pant. The is Team B Wood Produces Team A Fire. Therefore, Team A can score goal(s) again. Then, we compare Team A Goalkeepers’ Black Pant vs Team B Players’ Blue Pant. It is Team A Water matching Team B Water. It is not conclusive. In this case, we need to compare both Team Players’ pant colors. When we do the comparison, It is Team B Water Controls Team A Fire. Therefore, Team B can also score goals due to the weak defense of Team A.

In the first half of the game, Team A has stronger luck than Team B; Meanwhile, in second half, it is considered an equal. In overall, we can judge that Team A has more advantage than Team B and thus the winning chances are higher.

Traditional surety bond underwriting does not allow for any losses. In other words, applicants are only suppose to be approved for a bond if the underwriter believes there will be no claims. This differs from insurance underwriting, as a loss is expected and is built into the premium. Higher risk applicants are usually declined or asked to post 100% collateral with the bond. The surety bond market is starting to see some change in how bonds are underwritten. However, these forward thinking sureties.are in the minority and are difficult for the average principal to find.

As stated above, according to traditional surety underwriting bonds are suppose to be written as a service fee, not insurance. Therefore, there are not suppose to be any claims expected, as it is not built into the premium. Unfortunately, the suretyship guidelines are not reality and losses do occur, even the most conservative bonding companies.

Surety bonds have been around for quite some time and we know that losses are inevitable no matter how good the underwriting is. If losses are inevitable, then why not change the underwriting philosophy? If a principal is considered to be a higher risk, then a higher premium rate should be applied. This thinking goes against traditional surety underwriting as losses would then be built into the premium.

I cant say that approving surety bonds to high risk clients at a higher rate is a new idea. In fact, we have been working with bonding companies that have successfully written high risk surety bonds for years. The rates are roughly 10-15 times higher for commercial bonds, but are usually still the best alternative for most that fall under the program. I can honestly say that we have seen little claims under the high risk programs. Definitely no where near 5-15 times as many as a standard market. Therefore, the sureties writing these programs are making out quite well for themselves. The few bonding companies have a monopoly on higher risk applicants, as there few sureties willing to take the risk of new surety guidelines, especially after the fall of the soft market.

Sureties writing higher risk contract bonds are even more rare. Bond approvals for five year contracts are unheard of these days, for most. Fortunately, there are some contract bonding companies willing to break the mold of traditional suretyship and take larger risks than the ridiculous expectation of a 0% loss. Similar to the high risk commercial bonds, higher risk contracts (ie long contracts) will see increased rates. Surprisingly, the sureties willing to write the higher risk contract bonds do not have losses greater than their peers. The average loss ratio of our out of the box thinking contract bonding companies is 14.35%, lower than many conservative sureties. Once again, they have a monopoly on the market, as very few are willing to write these hazardous bonds.

Often, our agency is contacted by surety underwriters that want our business. They are well aware that we are a high volume agency that has a diverse range of accounts and they want a piece of the pie. We rarely get appointed with new sureties, as most offer the same as their competition. If they are going to try to increase their book of business they will have to think outside of conventional underwriting and rate guidelines. Why would we set our clients up with a surety that is the same as every other market out there? What they need to do is find market segments that are not overwhelmed with other sureties offering identical programs. Contact us if you are an open minded underwriter looking to expand your book of business. We have set up numerous programs that have been successful for quite some time. The programs are successful because unlike the higher risk bonds approved in the soft market of the past, they are approved with higher premium rates, which offset the cost of claims.

It is time that the surety industry wakes up and realizes that a 0% loss is not obtainable. Stop underwriting in the same fashion simply because it is the way business has been done for years. Forward thinking sureties are capitalizing an entire market segment; it is time the high risk segments become diverse with more bonding companies.

Increasingly more people suffer from digestive disorder nowadays. Statistics indicate that ulcer is the predominant condition among people with digestive problems. Ulcer develops due to inflammation and corrosion in the lining of the gastrointestinal tract. Ulcers that occur at the level of the duodenum are referred to as duodenal ulcers, while ulcers that occur at the level of the stomach are called stomach or gastric ulcers. Duodenal ulcer is considered to be of a benign form, while gastric ulcer is considered to be very dangerous. People who suffer from stomach or gastric ulcer may develop more severe forms of the disorder such as perforate or bleeding ulcer. Perforate ulcer refers to breaches within the protective walls of the stomach or internal organs. Bleeding ulcer involves either slow or abundant bleeding of the lesions caused by the disorder.

Ulcer occurs due to the contamination with a certain bacteria called Helicobacter pylori. The bacteria alone cant produce ulcer, as research findings also indicate its presence in the organism of people who dont develop ulcer. However, the excessive secretion of gastric acid may cause the deterioration of the mucosal membrane covering the stomach, thus enabling infection with Helicobacter pylori. Duodenal ulcers and gastric, stomach ulcers that involve excessive secretion of hydrochloric acid and pepsin are called peptic ulcers.

Duodenal ulcer occurs to both sexes and regardless of age. However, statistics indicate that male persons are more likely to develop forms of duodenal ulcer than women. In order to prevent the development of either gastric or duodenal ulcer, it is important to control alcohol and caffeine intake. Smoking also contributes to acquiring and the development of duodenal ulcer and gastric ulcer, slowing the natural process of healing.

If a person is already diagnosed with a form of ulcer, keeping an appropriate ulcer diet can ameliorate the symptoms of the disorder and also improve the efficiency of the prescribed treatment. An ulcer diet should completely exclude beverages that are known to increase gastric acidity coffee, tea, (certain teas increase the PH values inside the stomach) milk, (although many people tend to think that milk is benefic for ulcer, in many cases it also increases acidity) alcohol, cola. The foods contained by a good ulcer diet should also be picked according to their level of acidity. It is important to avoid some anti-inflammatory medicines during an ulcer treatment (aspirin, ibuprofen) as they are known to augment the symptoms of the disorder.

Duodenal ulcers are considered to be the most easy to treat among other gastrointestinal disorders. The symptoms of duodenal ulcer ameliorate after only a few days of treatment. However, even after the improvement of the disorder, specific treatment needs to be administered until the complete remission of ulcer. Gastric ulcer is more problematic, as it tends to recidivate after certain periods of time. Gastric ulcer has a pronounced chronic character and it is more difficult to overcome the disorder. Regardless of the form of the ulcer, it is vital to diagnose the disorder quickly, in order to prevent further complications.

Back to the Past

Manuscripts dont burn, the ancients used to say. But one guy named Gerostratus managed to reduce the Alexandrian Library to ashes. He got his own way, but priceless manuscripts were lost.
Modern Gerostratuses, also known as hackers and noble burglars, are ready to be hide from the audience. But a marriage contract, a rental contract, and a report for your boss may all vanish from your computer into thin air in a moment – just a tiny virus is more than enough. Methods for protecting information have been discussed 1000 times, but no panacea has been found. Anyway, relief exists – you just need to look for it in another place.

Just My Luck

Of course you may buy some cd-rw and flash drives with up to 1 Gb volume, and every day, or, better yet, hourly, copy your data to removable drives. Spacious shelving and a friendly catalogue search engine would be great too. And the main thing – dont forget your CD-case to grab all that stuff for work or on vacation. I know one guy who has opened two e-mail accounts and every day sends data from one to another on purpose to keep files on a mail-server. Unfortunately for him, his huge Power Point files didnt want to attach to his messages. We could keep on torturing you, mentioning hacker-like nightmares, and you will keep on copying data to removable drives forever. But the new file-hosting services have changed everything.

Forward To The Future

Nowadays, file-hosting is one of the most reliable ways of hosting and sharing data. Super protected servers cut off all the endless attempts by hackers to penetrate the system, and keep all data primitive. As a whole the list of services at those sites are the same. Upload, Host and Share. But you will really be surprised by most of them because of the commercials and strong requirements they have in order to register. You can breathe freely just doing what you want to on friendly www.oxyshare.com. First of all, there is an Oxyshare directory, where you can share and store everything you want. You can find here Video Storage, which doesnt let your home videos take over your hard drive, Photo Album, where you can upload and share your photos with anyone on Earth, Music Library, in which your favorite songs are always within reach, Movies Collection, and even Organizer, which gives you access to files anytime and from anywhere. In brief, OxyShare gives you 24/7 access to your data wherever you go.
And all these things can be done without any registration, and absolutely totally for free. But for free is not exactly the right expression. You can even earn money for your living with Oxyshare. Its Partnership Program allows you to upload interesting video (your grandmas anniversary is not the best idea) or useful soft, and get money for every download from your link. Its a piece of cake. But thats not the only good thing. If your upload gets in the TOP 100, youll get a bonus. But we wont tell you the amount of this bonus aloud. Otherwise Well, you know that not only Joe Blacks visit is inevitable.

When you start your own business, you commit to investing your time, talent and resources in the business to make it succeed. You authorize a spending plan; you ask the bank, your credit card company, friends, family, employees, to endow the business to follow your business plan and implement your marketing plan. There’s more to it. You need to determine where you can differentiate your company from the competition, so where should you invest the most resources? To garner the most flexibility, I suggest your investment priorities should be: Brand Capital, then Human Capital, followed by Working Capital with Physical Capital at the bottom of the list.

Brand Capital: Invest the most in your market and marketing to them. Up front this could simply be focusing on a small group of prospects. Do the economics to make them well satisfied customers. So much so, that they provide the testimonials or become the spokespersons for your future sales. Remember, the high value transfer of using relationships.

Human Capital: This is your team and their track record coming on board. Only hire stars, no matter what. Only employ experts in the key roles of your company. For other positions, look for great talent you can mold to your vision, and move around to meet the company’s needs.

In addition, build a stellar Board of Advisors or Board of Directors. A Board of Advisors usually will help you for free, whereas a Board of Directors is paid. The key is to engage thought leaders in your niche who become early adopters of your product or service and advocate for you to their significant networks.

Working Capital: Invest minimally here because there’s no added value to the company or the product. Tying up cash instead of using credit may actually slow your time to market. This could be a critical timing mistake if your competition is racing you to market.

Physical Capital: Invest minimally here because bricks and mortar don’t sell product. Yes, you need a roof and windows that don’t leak (I’ve worked with many startups in the old mills where workstation layout was based on the leaks and drips.). You don’t need to be a miser. And you need the equipment, technologies and conveniences that will make everyone highly productive. Cost- effectiveness should be weighed here too.

Whenever you are investing in your business, recognize that you cannot manage everything, but you can manage the value equation of each investment. Be sure the value to your business is outstanding, so you can win business with every sale.

Have you ever achieved an important goal or dream, yet quickly moved on to the next task? Or maybe you boldly took a risk, yet your performance didn’t meet your expectations or others? Or maybe the perfectionist in you felt the accomplishment wasn’t big enough or worthy of celebration? Do you generously celebrate your wins?

I thought I was someone who was good about celebrating successes. And, maybe you have too. But recently, a few significant events opened my eyes to the importance of celebrating and the costs associated when accomplishments are minimized, criticized or glossed over. I invite you to explore the “celebration factor” in your life, as I share my own recent experiences with you. It’s forever changed my relationship with celebration, and how I intend to consciously choose to honor the big and little achievements along life’s path.

It’s no secret that I’ve been busily working on preparing my book for publication. While there are numerous tasks and milestones along the way, going to print is one of the biggies. December marked the first print run of 125 galley copies for book reviewers. While I consciously knew this was a great achievement, the event was sort of lost in the flurry of other activities. Instead of feeling elated and joyous, I have to admit my experience was more like a mini postpartum depression. I had a bodywork session, and didn’t think much of it.

Not too long ago, I uploaded the files for the first BIG print run. There wasn’t a parade or party. The files were simply uploaded. Mission accomplished. Yet, my task list seemed as overwhelming as ever. Once again, I felt my normal happy self uncontrollably nose-diving into droopiness. This postpartum-like depression seemed worse than before. It was awful! Conversations with other authors confirmed this was something they had experienced too. But, why? Would some conscious celebrating have helped?

A third event brought me even more clarity. Last weekend, I attended a workshop. Since this next phase for me is about putting myself into the public eye, I decided to participate in the amateur talent show. This was definitely outside my comfort zone, as I don’t consider myself a performer AT ALL. But, I’ve admired women who dance freely in front of a group, and thought it could be fun. More importantly, I decided it would be a metaphor for authentically expressing myself in front of a group. I figured if I couldn’t put myself out there in front of a supportive, loving group, then I’d be in big trouble on my book tour.

So, I went for it. I gathered tips from the dance instructors who happened to be attending the event. There was virtually no time to practice. My legs were shaking terribly in anticipation of this event. I was nervous. I hate making a fool of myself. But, before I knew it – I DID my performance. They all clapped and loved it.

Did I celebrate? Heck no. I stood in the back of the room replaying the performance in my mind, my body still shaking a bit. The critic was active with judgments. I had moved too quickly. I had forgotten some of the tips, like breathing. Could everyone tell how nervous I was? As others congratulated me, I deflected their comments, minimizing their kind words. How many times have YOU deflected or minimized acknowledgment from others?

I explained to others that it wasn’t perfect. The truth is, there were parts of the performance that were fabulous, and I felt amazing and powerful at certain moments. Other parts of the performance were a tad awkward, and a tinge of nervousness shined through. Overall, it was pretty darn good, especially considering it was a first time experience. While everyone was focused on the overall performance, I was fixated on the imperfections. Performance aside, simply the courage to do it was worthy of celebration. How many times do you refrain from celebration when your desired outcome falls short of expectations?

I eventually got tired of pushing the accolades away, and knew it would be useful to break this nasty habit. This whole experience served as a metaphor in TWO big ways. First off, it’s not about doing it perfectly. It’s about doing my best, being my authentic myself, and enjoying the process. This is something I’d like to keep in mind, as I set out on my journey as a published author. No doubt I will have a few awkward steps in the eyes of the public. Perhaps you’ll join me in trading the aspiration of perfection for full self-expression and a joyful journey — in your own life?

Secondly, I realized that once again, I wasn’t letting the celebration in. FEELING the celebration is key. Positively anchoring an accomplishment conditions us to continually risk, express ourselves and achieve more. I have been working on this since then. And, taking in the celebration feels AMAZING. What is something that you need to celebrate in your life? I challenge you to go for it.

As things turned out, the book spine needed some width adjustments, last minute endorsements came in and we caught a few needed corrections. On Wednesday night, the final-final .pdf files for The Power of Inner Choice were uploaded to the printer. At last.

I am a good student, and so is my boyfriend. And, the lessons were fresh. This was the landmark moment that wasn’t going to be brushed aside this time. I hypothesized that minimal celebration had contributed to the droopiness. We wanted to avoid the previous slump at all costs. So, Wednesday night became the time to celebrate.

How would you have celebrated?

Our last minute celebration consisted of fresh halibut, Gorgonzola Gnocchi from Trader Joe’s (it’s very yummy!), an exceptional bottle of wine – and one of our favorite dessert treats. But, it wasn’t the food, it was the ATTITUDE of celebration. Making the evening special just because we decided to. Most importantly, I took the celebration inside of me and FELT it. And, I’m happy to say — there was NO slump yesterday. Now it’s time to celebrate the book release!

Celebration is about honoring yourself. It refuels the fire. It soothes the soul. And, it FEELS GOOD! Without it, our efforts can take the wind out of our sails. Life is full of big and little opportunities to celebrate. Some would say that CELEBRATING and experiencing joy IS what life is all about. I’m beginning to believe that is simply the truth.

Are you CELEBRATING your life?

I

t’s not too late to start celebrating every step of YOUR journey. Celebrate with me. Celebrate with your loved ones. Celebrate with yourself. Just start celebrating.

Soccer 102

Nov 22, 2011

Welcome to Soccer 102. In Soccer 101, we learned a bit of history surrounding soccer, the rules of the game and some important things about the upcoming 2006 FIFA World Cup. This time around well focus on a little more of the history involving the epic tournament and well get a how to lesson on wagering on soccer, on teams, on pool (group) formations, on predictions and on odds. The World Cup is the largest sporting event on the planet. More people in the USA are getting up to speed on the World Cup. One of the reasons for this could be that many Americans havent been educated about this thrilling and time-tested sport.

By the twelfth century, the game of soccer had become an extremely violent sport resembling a sort of riot. The free-for-all version was subsequently banned by the governing royalty of the age. Despite the illegal status, soccer in this form continued to grow in popularity. The current, formal rules of todays game have evolved throughout the years, and they continue to be tweaked annually by the Fdration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).

Formed in 1904, the FIFA originated from seven separate European soccer associations. Destined to be the worlds governing soccer body, the annual FIFA Congress originally focused on international competition and a possible international tournament. However, with the start of World War I, all plans for an immense tournament were put on hold until 1930 when the first FIFA sponsored global tournament was held in Uruguay. The host nation won the contest by defeating Argentina in the finals. However, global travel was extremely time-consuming and slow at that time and many European nations declined to play due to the thirty-day float across the big pond.

Up until this point, the Olympic Games represented the highest level of competition in soccer, even though at that time Olympic participation was restricted to amateur athletes. The World Cup offered a new professional level of international competition. It immediately became popular in many countries; however it took some time for the European soccer faction to get completely on board.

The second World Cup was held in Italy, and the location of the event went a long way to bolstering European support. Benito Mussollini was at the helm of the Italian government, and his fascist regime used the tournament to gain popularity for their agenda. Once again the host nation was the champion in 1934.

Many European soccer enthusiasts had succumbed to the governing FIFA, although there were still some strong holdouts. The British Isles – England, Scotland and Wales – still refused to participate partly due to political differences with Italy and partly due to just plain stubbornness. In 1938 for the third world Cup, 36 nations entered the competition, and for the first time preliminary games were played to reduce the field to 16 teams. The British Isles were still a no-show, despite the fact that the tournament was held in France, where diplomatic relations with Great Britain laid in a somewhat benign stasis. Italy repeated as World Champions.

The twelve years that followed saw the world in a horrendous World War and consequently, the World Cup was put on hold. When it resumed, the FIFA World Cup was undisputedly the highest level of international tournament competition in soccer.

Since 1958, the tournament locations have alternated between Europe and the Americas. That is, until 2002, when Korea and Japan were selected to co-host the event. In 2006, the event is being held in Germany. Even though the tournament is in Europe, the odds-on-favorite is Brazil at ~3/1.

If you are thinking of laying down a bet or two on the World Cup, there are some things you might want to consider. First of all, consider that the make-up of the pools or groups is extremely relevant.

Group A; Germany, Costa Rica, Poland and Ecuador.
Group B; England, Paraguay, Trinidad-Tobago and Sweden.
Group C; Argentina, Ivory Coast, Serbia-Montenegro and the Netherlands.
Group D; Mexico, Iran, Angola and Portugal.
Group E; Italy, Ghana, United States and the Czech Republic.
Group F; Brazil, Croatia, Australia and Japan.
Group G; France, Switzerland, South Korea and Togo.
Group H; Spain, Ukraine, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.

Typical wagers on soccer usually involve picking the winner. Remember that the odds are set for a reason. The experts have supreme confidence in their ability to loosely predict the outcomes. Currently, the favorites in the FIFA World Cup are Brazil (odds to win it all ~ 3/1), Germany (~ 7/1), England, Italy and Argentina (~ 8/1), France (~12/1), and Spain and Holland (Netherlands) (~ 14/1). Odds change frequently and vary depending on the sportsbook you use.

If you want to get some high odds on possible history making and non-traditional winners, bet on Trinidad-Tobago (~1000/1) or Saudi Arabia (~750/1). Iran, Costa Rica and Togo are also long-shots at about 500/1. If you feel uneasy about wagering on underdogs, you may want to stay with the teams near the middle of the field – Portugal, Sweden, Mexico, Ukraine and the USA. There are countless other ways to lay bets on this titanic tournament. Wagering on a team to place or show, group winner, group qualifying, head-to-head match, final pair, and most goals are just a few of the opportunities for bettors.

Wagering is a mix of luck, art and statistics. There are a number of ways to parlay, or combine your bets, within one sport or through a combination of various sports. These types of bets are a great way to increase your possible payoff, but they are often difficult to hit because of the way the combinations are often presented. If you know what you are doing, or you just have a gut feeling about two or more match-ups, parlaying your wagers into one can offer a bigger payday than just a straight bet.

In World Cup wagering, you can also get campaign wagering on particular nations. The Australian and the England campaign are two of the most popular. A bettor predicts at what phase of the tournament either of these clubs will exit, or even if they will go on to win it all. Wagering within the groups is another popular form of betting in the early rounds. Any big upsets at this stage can produce an adequate return on your investment and these are generally much easier to predict than which teams will win, place or show in the tournament.

I like Germany to win it all. They are playing as the host country and the home team has won six of 17 tournaments. Plus, they are loaded with talent, making them an authentic threat to beat any team on any given day. I also like Englands chances. They are in the same group as Sweden, which has traditionally been a problem for them, but I know the English want to put an end to that long losing streak. Thirty-seven years is a long time to go without a win against a team like Sweden. The English appear to be on a mission to put this controversy to rest. Brazil probably has the best and most talented team in the entire field. Just like any other tournament, it isnt necessarily the best team that will emerge victorious; it is the team that builds the most momentum through confidence and emotion to perform at their peak potential.

The 2006 FIFA World Cup is an event unlike any other. With all its adversity, triumph and tragedy, it is the defining international event for the soccer world. It is on a scale like no other; pitting nation against nation and culture versus culture as the pride of an entire continent hangs in the balance. From the 9th of June to the 9th of July 2006, this epic contest will be fought on German soil and just about the entire world will be watching.

Traveling in Style

Nov 22, 2011

A few months ago, I decided I was overdue for a proper vacation. The last time I had been away for any length of time was five years ago. After my first year of university, my parents generously sponsored me to go on a European tour. I visited eight countries in fourteen days, and slept in youth hostels the entire time. The only luggage I brought with me was my trusty backpack. Following the advice of some more seasoned travelers, I sewed a Canadian flag on my backpack. Everyone loves Canadians, eh!

This trip was to be somewhat different. I have decided to go back to Europe, but this time I will be traveling in style. I am planning to take a first-class flight into London, and I am in dire need of some first-class luggage. Luggage is such a difficult thing to shop for. It is one of those things that will not be used often enough to justify any great expense, but to purchase cheap luggage would be a complete waste of time and money. I decided to get together with the friends I will be going away with, for an afternoon of good old American shopping.

We spent the afternoon going from department store to big-box store to specialty store and back again. I finally narrowed my choices down to three potential sets of luggage; American Tourister, Briggs & Riley, and Zero Halliburton. They each have certain appealing aspects, and they are all reasonably priced. I read somewhere that American Tourister luggage has one of the best warranties in the industry. Briggs & Riley have been manufacturing quality products since 1993, and they also offer an extensive warranty. Zero Halliburton is, well..Zero Halliburton.

Once I thought about it for a little while, I realized that the Zero Halliburton suitcase was the one for me. I’ll admit that I am actually in love with this luggage. If James Bond were transporting a suitcase filled with priceless gems, he would use a Zero Halliburton. I ended up purchasing a 26-inch Suiter for the slightly bloated price of $900.00. It is constructed from a wonderful brushed aluminum that looks like it would withstand an explosion, much less the baggage handlers at Heathrow. I will be bringing my prized collection of designer purses with me, so I can rest easy that they will be well protected in my awesome new suitcase. Do you think I should put a Canadian flag on it?

Plastics are synthetically produced non-metallic compounds. It can be molded into various forms and hardened for commercial use. Plastic molding products can be seen everywhere. Examples are jars, protective caps, plastic tubes, grips, toys, bottles, cases, accessories, kitchen utensils and a lot more.

Even the keyboard and the mouse that you use are made through plastic molding. Even the plastic part. of the chair that you are sitting on are created this way.

The basic idea in plastic molding is inserting molten liquid plastic into a ready shaped mold, for example the mold of a bottle. It will then be allowed to cool, then the mold will be removed to reveal the plastic bottle.

Plastic molding can also custom-mold a wide variety of plastic products including: garden pots, cabinets, office trays and boxes, barriers, barricades and traffic signage and displays for product and marketing promotions.

If you are planning to go into a plastic molding business, you should first know the different processes. Choose from a plastic molding process that fits your budget, your expertise, and your resources. Here are basic definitions of various methods of plastic molding.

The Plastic Molding Processes:

1. Injection Molding

In Injection Molding, melted plastic is forced into a mold cavity. Once cooled, the mold can be removed. This plastic molding process is commonly used in mass-production or prototyping of a product. Injection molding machines were made in the 1930s. This can be used to mass produce toys, kitchen utensils, bottle caps, and cell phone stands to name a few.

2. Blow Molding

Blow molding is like injection molding except that hot liquid plastic pours out of a barrel vertically in a molten tube. The mold closes on it and forces it outward to conform to the inside shape of the mold. When it is cooled, the hollow part is formed. Examples of blow molding products are bottles, tubes and containers.

Equipments needed in setting-up a blow molding business are relatively higher than injection molding.

3. Compression Molding

In this type of plastic molding, a slug of hard plastic is pressed between two heated mold halves. Compression molding usually uses vertical presses instead of the horizontal presses used for injection and blow molding. The parts formed are then air-cooled. Prices of equipments used for compression molding are moderate.

4. Film Insert Molding

This plastic molding technique imbeds an image beneath the surface of a molded part. A material like film or fabric is inserted into a mold. Plastic is then injected.

5. Gas Assist Molding

Also called gas injection molding is used to create plastic parts with hollow interiors. Partial shot of plastic is then followed by high-pressure gas to fill the mold cavity with plastic.

6. Rotational Molding

Hollow molds packed with powdered plastic are secured to pipe-like spokes that extend from a central hub. The molds rotate on separate axes at once. The hub swings the whole mold to a closed furnace room causing the powder to melt and stick to the insides of the tools. As the molds turn slowly, the tools move into a cooling room. Here, sprayed water causes the plastic to harden into a hollow part. In this type of plastic molding, tooling costs are low and piece prices are high. Cycle time takes about 40-45 minutes.

7. Structural Foam Molding

Structural foam molding is a process of plastic molding usually used for parts that require thicker walls than standard injection molding. Inserting a small amount of nitrogen or chemical blow agent into the plastic material makes the walls thicker. Foaming happens as the melted plastic material enters the mold cavity. A thin plastic skin forms and solidifies in the mold wall. This type of plastic molding can be used with any thermoplastic that can be injection molded.

8. Thermoforming

In this plastic molding process, sheets of pre-extruded rigid plastics are horizontally heated and sucked down into hollow one-piece tools. When the hot plastic solidifies, its shape conforms to that of the mold.

Tooling costs are usually low and piece prices vary on the machinery.

Plastic molding is a very technical process. It needs experts in this type of manufacturing business for it to be competitive in the market. Therefore, a very scientific and systematic study should be first made before going into this endeavor.

If you like wine, stop at the Door Peninsula Winery in Carlsville, Wisconsin the next time you get to Door County. The winery is north of Sturgeon Bay on Hwy 42. It is located in an old schoolhouse.

My husband, one of my grown sons, and myself stopped there during a recent trip to Door County. The evening before we had dined at Shipwrecked in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin (also in Door County), and had been given a coupon for a free tour of the winery and free wine tasting. It seemed like too good of a deal to pass up.

Even if you dont have a coupon for the tour, its a bargain at $2 for each adult. And if youre not interested in the tour but just in the wine tasting, the wine tasting is free to anyone 21 years of age or older.

We decided to take the tour and then taste some of the wines. The tour started in the front of the schoolhouse where our guide told us the building had been used as a schoolhouse for 100 years, from 1868 to 1968. At one point in time, the school had 60 students in 8 grades with only 2 teachers. The building was purchased and turned into a winery in 1974.

After being given some history on the building, we were taken to the basement of the building, which is where the wine is made. We saw how the wine was bottled, the vats it is made in, along with the barrels it is stored in for aging. Along the way we learned how the fruit juice the winery uses gets turned into wine. Then we headed back upstairs to the wine bar to start tasting the wines.

With over 50 wines being produced by the winery, it was difficult deciding which ones to try but we managed. The winery produces quite a few fruit wines from apple to blackberry to plum to cranberry to peach to strawberry, along with their signature cherry wine which is made with Door County cherries. The fruits for some of the other wines come from other places, such as California, but all the wine is made at the Door County facility.

The top selling wines at the Door County winery are the Strawberry Zinfandel, Blackberry Merlot, and Razzle Dazzle Raspberry. Our favorites were the Blackberry, Cranberry, and Sparkling Razzle Dazzle Raspberry. Other wines we liked included the Port Reserve, a sweet desert wine; Sweet Cherry, a sweet wine; White Christmas, one of the winerys holiday wines; the White Zinfandel, one of the winerys signature series wines; and Cranbernet, a wine made with a combination of cranberry and grape juices.

The winery also offers several non-wine products including cherry juice, sparkling juices, wine jellies, gourmet mustards, and Door Peninsula Wine Cheese Spread which we thought was so good that we bought two containers to take home.

The large shopping area in the winery also has hundreds of other items for sale including wine glasses, wine racks, gourmet foods, gift baskets, and wine butlers.

In addition to taking home some of the winerys cheese spread; we bought a mixed case of wine to take with us. And we didnt break the bank buying the wine. The wines at the winery are a good value. The wines start at around $8 for the fruit wines to a little under $30 for some of the winerys signature series wines.

We enjoyed the couple of hours we spent at the Door Peninsula Winery. It was a fun way to spend part of our afternoon during our trip to Door County. During our next trip we plan to visit some of the other wineries in Door County to see what they have to offer (http://www.doorcountycountry.com/shop/doorcountywine).

Courage and skill being often of little use without a good weapon, I think it necessary, before I lay down rules for using it, to show how to choose a good blade, and how it ought to be mounted.

The length of the blade ought to be proportional to the stature of the person who is to use it: the longest sword, from point to pommel, should reach perpendicularly from the ground to the navel, and the shortest, to the waste; being large in proportion to its length, and not extremely large, nor very small, as some people wear them; the over large blades being unwieldy, unless very hollow, which makes them weak, and the narrow ones being not sufficient to cover the body enough.

How To Choose Your Perfect Blade

in order to choose a good blade, three things are to be observed: first, that the blade have no flaw in it, especially across, it being more dangerous so than length-way. secondly, that it be well tempered, which you’ll know by bending it against a wall or other place; if it bend only towards the point, ’tis faulty, but if it bend in a semicircular manner, and the blade spring back to its straightness, ’tis a good sign; if it remains bent it is a fault, though not so great as if it did not bend at all; for a blade that bends being of a soft temper, seldom breaks; but a stiff one being hard tempered is easily broke. the third observation is to be made by breaking the point, and if the part broken be of a grey color, the steel is good; if it be white its not: or you may strike the blade with a key or other piece of iron, and if he gives a clear sound, there is no hidden fault in it. in bending a blade you must not force it, what i have said being sufficient to know it by, and besides by forcing it, it may be so weakened in some part as to break when it
comes to be used.

It would not be amiss for a man to see his sword mounted, because the cutlers, to save themselves the trouble of filing the inside of the hilts and pommel, to make the holes wider, often file the tongue of the blade too much, and fill up the vacancies with bits of wood, by which means the sword is not firm in the hand, and the tongue being thin and weak, is apt to break in parrying or on a dry beat, as has been unhappily experienced. care should also be taken that the end of the tongue be well riveted to the extremity of the pommel, lest the grip should fly off, which would be of very dangerous consequence.

Technology has taken us from Beta to VHS and now to DVD movies. With each new step of technology, the pictures became more clear, the sound more defined and an improved experience overall. However, nothing has matched the quality of DVD movies. With crystal clear images, incomparable sounds and tons of added features, DVD movies are a hit.

Gone are the days when a movie rental was just a movie. These days, a DVD rental includes not only the movie, but also deleted scenes, cast interviews, commentary and often even a documentary on how the film was made. Video store rentals are excellent, but what if you don’t have a local rental store? No problem. Several big name retailers offer online rentals, which means that a video store is now just a click away. For a monthly fee, online rental companies will allow you to create a wish list of DVD movies that you want to see. They will send a movie from your list and, after you watch it, it is returned in exchange for another selection on your list. This process goes on and on without any additional cost to the customer. The only thing you pay for is a monthly membership fee. So, whether it’s online or in person, a video store is a terrific place to rent Hollywood’s latest hit movies.

If you are looking to purchase a video, the options are equally unlimited. Virtually every retail store has an electronic section in which they offer DVD movies for sale. The new releases are generally more expensive than others so, if you’re on a budget, check out the titles that have been released for a year or longer. You may be surprised at the bargains to be found. Another purchasing option is through a video club. With this type of membership, you simply sign up and select several movies at an unbelievable low price. In exchange for the bargain, you agree to purchase a predetermined number of movies over the next several years. Each month, the video club will send a video catalog and selection card. Be sure to read the selection card carefully because you may have to return it to the company. Typically, a director’s selection is chosen every month and is automatically sent to the customer unless they indicate they do not wish to receive it. A customer can indicate that they do not wish to receive this selection simply by marking the appropriate box on the selection card and mailing it back. Or, often times, customers may indicate their wishes online without having to spend money on postage to mail the selection card back. Video clubs are a terrific way to build a nice collection of DVD movies and they offer terrific deals every month.

If you’re still in the market for DVD movies and haven’t found a video rental store or local retailer, check out one of the many online retailers who offer a wide variety of DVD movies for sale. With the internet, a customer’s options are virtually endless. A never ending sea of DVD movies are just a click away.

While the practice of therapeutic massage has been used for centuries in the east, it is a relatively recent phenomenon here in the west. While the wonders of modern medicine have left many awestruck, more and more people are looking towards complimentary therapies and non-invasive treatments for their ailments. Massage therapy has never been as popular as it is today in America.

A number of studies have shown that massage therapy is a highly effective stress reduction technique. An earlier study, conducted by the University of Miami Medical School and published in the Journal of the American Academy of Child Adolescent Psychiatry, suggested that children receiving 30 minutes of therapeutic massage daily were less depressed and anxious than they were at the time of their admittance.

This particular study also observed marked differences in the health and behavior of the children in the test group, over the children in the control group. The nurses taking part in the study also noted that the children were more cooperative, and were able to achieve a higher level of sleep quality. On the biological level, the children in the control group exhibited lower levels of cortisol (a stress hormone) in their saliva and in their urine. It quickly became evident to researchers that massage can play a significant role in stress reduction.

It is highly encouraging that both the medical establishment and the general public are starting to realize the impact that stress can have on an individual’s health and well being. Some physicians and researchers have suggested that stress is responsible for over 75% of all disease in the western world, including skin disorders, high blood pressure, headaches, digestive ailments, muscle pain, and depression. By employing the age-old techniques of massage therapy, there exists the distinct possibility of overcoming these terrible afflictions.

The eminent Victorian physician, Dr. Stretch Dowse, noted the following back in 1887: “The mind, which before massage is in a perturbed, restless, vacillating and, even despondent state, becomes after massage, calm, quiet, peaceful and subdued; in fact, the wearied and worried mind has been converted into a mind restful, placid, and refreshed.” While modern medicine is full of promise in certain areas, it is not wise to ignore the knowledge and insights of the past. Massage therapy has helped countless people cope with the stress of modern life. It could help you, too.

Owners of boutique hotels strive to provide guests with an experience during their stay. They want them to feel pampered by the service and comfortable with the atmosphere, but most of all, they want guests to feel at home. This is difficult to achieve in a hotel environment and relies on good use of space, creative design and high service standards to succeed.

Public spaces

Public spaces are important in any hotel, but need to be put to particularly good use in a boutique hotel. No matter whether the hotel is in a large mansion or a three-storey town house, making people feel at home in a place they are paying to stay in is a challenge. Public areas must be open enough to allow people their own space, without making the room feel bare or unfriendly. They must also have comfortable furniture, so that guests can relax, and a variety of lighting, so that guests can read, eat or just talk. These hotels are famous for encouraging a shoes off or barefoot attitude, where guests dont feel that they have to dress up or follow certain formalities during their stay.

Rooms

The things that make you feel at home in your room are the details. Everyones used to a hotel room with a bed, some drawers and some hanging space, but its the extra details that turn a basic hotel room into a boutique hotel room. These details include creative bathroom solutions, antique furniture, quality linens, internet access and flat screen TVs. In addition, freshly-lit candles and exclusive toiletries create a luxurious but comfortable space.

Service

One of the downsides of large hotels is that the staff can never know who you are, where youve come from or why youre visiting. This is something that doesnt happen in boutique hotels. The lower number of total bedrooms in hotels of this type means that there is often more staff than guests, and this leads to high levels of personal service. Staff know your name and your room number and, in some of the more exclusive boutique hotels, they find out what you like before you even get there, so that it can be provided on arrival.

People who stay in a luxury boutique hotel for the first time are struck by how very different the design, ambience and service is from a standard hotel. As a guest, you immediately feel more relaxed and comfortable and this in turn contributes to the home-from-home feeling that many guests remark on.
